The UK is now one of the most nature-depleted countries on Earth, and the way we manage our land, and the effects of climate change, are having the biggest impacts on our wildlife (State of Nature, 2023).
The Hive has a significant role to play in reversing biodiversity loss and supporting the habitats of Epping Forest of which it sits within. The support of others to help us achieve this is extremely valuable.
There are opportunities to get involved in a variety of tasks, depending on the time of year and abilities of the group. Tasks could include:
- Hedgerow maintenance
- Meadow management
- Vegetation clearance
- Litterpicking
- Tree planting
- Habitat creation
- Wood staining
- Painting
- Animal enclosure maintenance
