Our policies and procedures help create standards of quality for learning and safety, as well as expectations and accountability.
The Hive is an LOtC Quality Badge holder, an award for organisations who meet nationally recognised standards in education provision and effective risk management.
We comply with all relevant UK health and safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Policies are continually reviewed and assessed in line with current laws and regulations.
At The Hive, the safety and wellbeing of our staff, volunteers and service users is our highest priority. We have detailed risk assessments for all our activities, as well as our generic risk assessments, and dynamic risk assessments are carried out at the beginning of each day and each activity.
The Hive fully recognises the contribution it can make to protect children and adults at risk from harm and supporting and promoting the welfare of those coming into contact with our organisation.
Our policy applies to all staff, volunteers and visitors of The Hive and is consistent with the procedures outlined by Waltham Forest Safeguarding Children Board and Safeguarding Adults Board, as well as national legislation and guidance.
All staff members hold appropriate qualifications, first aid certifications and DBS checks. Staff are supported to continually review their knowledge through regular training relevant to their role such as food safety, safeguarding and first aid.
All volunteers at The Hive hold an up-to date DBS. Volunteers will comply with the safeguarding policy and procedures as set out by The Hive.
All staff and volunteers at The Hive will follow the standards of behaviour as set out in the staff behaviour policy and code of conduct.
Everyone has a fundamental right to access outdoor learning, free from discrimination and where opportunities are equal to all.
We are part of Waltham Forest’s commitment to creating a fairer and more equal Waltham Forest, aiming to build an inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve and enables all colleagues to feel confident to be their authentic selves at work.
