Pond Habitats

Pond Habitats
In the grounds, visit one of our ponds to carefully collect some of the animals living there. Use keys to identify and classify real live animals from the pond habitat. Construct and interpret food chains in that habitat. Threats to the habitat and the potential impact on the animal species found will be considered in relation to the climate and ecological emergency.

Learning Objectives

  • to use classification keys to group, identify and name animals
  • to explore the reasons why an animal is in a particular group
  • to construct and understand food chains from a habitat
  • consider threats to the forest and the potential impact on the animal species found
